Welcome
"Forests For All" Sheds Light On Local Ecology
Thanks to the Willis W. and Ethel M. Clark
Foundation for organizing the "Forests
for All" conference at Asilomar on May
19th. The experts in forestry, plant
pathology, forest genetics, fire prevention,
and landscape gardening, along
with an arborist provided valuable
perspectives on forest management.
These are important for our understanding
of the issues facing all of us in determining
the proper policies to provide
both fire safety and ecological health in
our forests. More...
Marine Mammals Released in Pebble Beach
The Marine Mammal Center has been in operation since
1975 and it is the only facility that is federally authorized to
rescue and rehabilitate marine mammals along 600 miles of
Northern California coastline. In fact, due to the large area
it covers, the Center treats more marine mammals than any
other facility of its kind in the world. In addition to its
Sausalito headquarters, the Center maintains field operations
in Monterey, San Luis Obispo and Mendocino Counties, as well as an informational
kiosk and retail store near the sea lions at San Francisco's Pier 39. Nearly 50%
of all animals rescued by the Center come from Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties.

2008 Fire Inspection Notice
We would like to remind you that with the arrival of Spring conditions, the annual threat of wildfires is soon to follow.
It is residents responsibility to be in compliance with the law which will help to keep your family, home, property and
neighborhood safe should an unwanted fire occur.
The Pebble Beach Community Services District Fire Department and CAL FIRE will begin Defensible Space
Inspections of properties within the Del Monte Forest beginning May 1, 2008. Public Resources Code 4291
states that "you shall at all times" maintain your property to the standards in the linked document; however, it becomes critically
important to do so before the beginning of fire season.
